Shot Show 2025 had several new items for the market. One item that caught my attention, the Keltec PR-57, which loads from the top with a CLIP! This design brings back the old concept of stripper-clips. I was first introduced to the proper "clip" in the SKS rifle format. "Stripper clips" used to move the ammo into a fixed magazine on the firearm. The idea was to reduce weight for soldiers on the battlefield. Instead of carrying the extra weight of multiple magazines to hold ammo (often heavy and made of all steel), these stripper clips added very little weight above the ammo itself. So, it was an interesting find, seeing this concept raise its head after so long. The Keltec PR-57 uses 5.7x28mm ammo, holds 20 rounds, features a rotary barrel, and weighs only 13-14 oz.
